Cam and his cousin Jeff Germo Those were the words that Ken exclaimed once we arrived in our room at the Horseshoe Bay Motel and began to settle in. After 15+ years of talking about it, we are actually at the Pacific Ocean and are ready to begin!! We are both extremely excited to finally get things going.
The Hero of the Day was Cam's cousin, Jeff Germo, who met us at the airport, ferried us to Cap's Bike Shop (thanks for the quick turnaround Jordan!) for a final check of the bikes, and then drove us all the way across the city to Horseshoe Bay. We shared a lot of memories and laughs as we recalled bike trips that Cam and Jeff took to Okotoks in 1974, and a couple of trips to Jasper/Banff in later years, along with many misadventures of their youth including hanging a friend by his feet from the garage rafters and lighting a fire under his head... (don't worry, Gordy survived the ordeal just fine). Thanks again Jeff for generously giving us your time, your assistance and lots of laughs!
